Attempting to coordinate remotes in 2024 is as puzzling as juggling bills. Fortunately, if you are a fan of Binging your favorite shows and movies using Fire Stick One, you can be part of the solution to the riding heap of remote controls, not to mention the gaming controllers that are likely to be accumulating in your living room.
In which Fire Stick model you are using, you probably don’t need another sound gadget since your Fire Stick’s remote controls sound as well.
If you do not, please do not worry—that is perfectly acceptable as well. Here are all the settings to enable your Fire Stick or Cube to alter the TV volume. Let’s get started!
Firestick Remote allows you to control TV volume
With the Fire Stick 4K, Amazon began to put the long-fabled Fire volume controls on the Fire remote – and a mute button and TV power button. Still, you may not own a television that can handle the input or consummate the transmission.
If you are struggling to use the Firestick remote to operate your television volume, make sure your television supports HDMI-CEC and the Fire Stick is connected to a CEC-compatible port via a CEC-compatible HDMI cable.
For anyone else who doesn’t have an Amazon Fire TV volume-equipped remote, the good news is that you can get the latest updated version of the firmware from Amazon without needing to purchase a new gadget.
Amazon sells remotes individually, and the latest one is compatible with all Fire Sticks/Cubes and other Fire devices except the first-generation Fire TV boxes or the TVs with Fire OS installed.
Learning the TV’s volume control through the Firestick Remote
To set up a new Fire Stick remote, simply point it at your Fire Stick and press the home button – a new remote can be useful if your old one has stopped working well. Here, to be more precise is how to go about it.
- You can get to the “Settings” menu from the Home Screen option.
- Select Manage Equipment.
- In the Manage Equipment Menu.
- Choose Change TV.
- Click on the ‘Change TV’ button.
- TV’s brand. If choosing the option marked “Yes”, go to the instruction 18.
- Select from the following list.
- Point your remote and the power button, then count to 10.
- Remote at the television and press the “power” button. Press it even if the TV does not power off.
- Confirm the power-off status. Should you choose ‘Yes,’ go directly to Step 18. If choosing “No,” move to the next step.
- The example finally has six codes available (6/6) and is in the second attempt out of six.
- Confirm the power-off status. If clicking on “Yes,” proceed to Step 18. If choosing “No,” go back to Step 9 at Repeat until the last code attempt (i.e., 6/6). If it stays on, after turning on the “Power” button, you may find that the “No/Yes” appears only after pressing the button the second time. If testing round one (that is, 6/6) was negative, go to the next step.
- If it does not work after the first set of attempts, it will be repeated. Go back to Step 9 to attempt another round. When round two (for example, 6/6) is lost, proceed to the next level of the process.
- If, after two rounds of powering off attempts are not done, choose ‘Try Again’ and go back to Step 8 to choose the brand again.
- If you pick the “advanced setup,” go on the internet, type in your television brand, and IR profile numbers will appear, and you can add them to try each of them.
- If the previous step is not effective, go to the list of “IR Profile Numbers” and test each one to switch off the TV. However, it is essential to note that even if you get to the “power-off” section, you can always return to the “profile number” section.
- After a process correctly identifies a profile number that, for instance, shuts your TV off, and you answer “Yes,” it proceeds to the “volume testing” screen. Choose “Next” to continue.
- This Message appears on the screen after pressing the volume keys, and it can either be a yes or no. If you selected “Yes” in the preceding, then proceed to Step 21. If choosing “No click on the next step.
- It might attempt two more “power-off” cycles. There, you will find a sound device selection dialog. Select ‘I use just my TV’ and click on it or press the enter key.
- At the end of the procedure, when the Firestick remote adjusts the TV’s volume, you can view a completion message. Finally, click on the “OK” button to save the settings.
Some users have noted that they had to complete the remote setup at least three times to get it right, so do not be discouraged if your experience is different. To give you an idea of how it works, the remote wirelessly searches and syncs with the TV’s IR receiver using what are called IR Profiles.
Users with the second-generation Alexa remotes that come with the Fire Stick devices can also adjust the volume with their voices. Point the remote at Alexa and hold the “Microphone” button, after which the user can speak to adjust the volume.
The volume of a TV using a voice assistant such as Alexa
Remember, while the Fire TV Stick 4K remotes accompanying the new release do not have buttons to control volume, you will still be able to use Echo devices to have Alexa adjust your volume for you.
You also have the Alexa remote to talk to if the need arises; the device is quite handy, indeed. It will not work on all televisions, but if your device supports CEC, then you should be able to control your volume without a remote.
Fixing Firestick Volume Control Issues
While the Firestick and most Amazon products are great, you do experience a glitch once in a while. Well, then, what is happening, and what can you do? Now, let me explain how you can try some basic fixes so your volume begins to work.
- First, if your volume controls aren’t working, replace your Firestick remote batteries.
- Then, ensure that there is no hindrance on your Fire TV or Firestick device. If the remote is not so helpful, then it can be an issue with the signal of the remote that we are using.
- If the batteries are good and no object is in front of the Firestick interfering with the signal, it is recommended that you power off the Firestick.
- To ensure your port and cable are HDMI-CEC compatible.
- One more option is to perform the factory reset of the Firestick.
