Letters and numbers written in italics are quite different from all the regular writings when it comes to writing.

Whether you need to draw attention to a particular piece of information for your reader or use some part of the text to create notes after studying a very long material, it adds a certain style to your note-taking.

While it is tremendously simple to find and use texts that you can italicize from a desktop, some might find it challenging to determine the procedure to the same on their iPhone.

Not anymore! Please allow me to explain all these doubts to you so that you can effectively learn how to make your messages stand out.

How to Emphasize on iPhone in Various Programs

It is possible to italicize text on iPhone in several ways, and here, the procedure depends on the application. In this case, we will lead you through most of it.

Note: It must be stated that not all of the versions of iOS are created equal and thus some features described in the article may not be available.

Option 1: How to Use on Pages App

Here’s how you can turn your normal texts into italics on the Pages app:

    1. Using your fingers open the Pages app type the message and tap it twice on the specific word for italic styling.

    2. Press on the paintbrush icon that you can see at the top right corner of the menu and then on the Italicize icon at the bottom.

    Option 2: On Email

There is also a way to italicise messages on emails so as to highlight some parts of your context. Here’s how:

    1. Open the in-built iPhone mail application.

    2. Press on the Message icon at the lower right part to see a text field, write your given message and double tap on the specific text to be italicized.

    3. Select Format from the choices that you get after tapping the arrow sign on the menu.

    4. Last, tap on Italic and the selected text will be written in Italic style on the Mail.

    Option 3: On Notes

The Notes app that is created within your device also offers the feature to enclose texts in italics. Follow the steps to do the same:

    1. Go to the application known as Notes where you will write your message.

    2. Tap on the text that you have to make italic, then tap on the ‘font’ symbol in the options bar.

    3. Click on the tapped icon below the italics.

    Option 4: On Numbers App

The Numbers app also lets you apply voice such that contents aligned on your iPhone may be italicized. Follow the steps below to do the same:

    1. The application is called Numbers and once you download and install it, open it and then go to the file that you want to work on.
    2. Press on the text twice quickly (double-tap) and more and choose ‘Format’.
    3. Tap on Italic.

    Option 5: On Reminders

Sadly, Apple did away with formatting text options in the Reminders app after the iOS 10 update of its apps and kept only a universal Curved San Francisco font in all apps. It is however now impossible for the users to underline their texts in the Reminder app any longer.

Option 6: As on Google Docs

You can also apply other formatting features such as italicizing messages on Google Docs on iPhone. Follow the steps:

    1. Go to Google Docs, get into the desired document and then double-click on the words that require to be italicized.
    2. Click on the Italic symbol that is located in the lower panel.

    Option 7: On iMessage

One of the features missing in iPhone’s iOS similar to Notes or Email app is the ability to italicize texts on iMessage.

As we speak there is no button that suggests that one formats texts on iMessage. However, if you want to learn how to make a text bold, then here is our How to Bold Text in iMessage article for that purpose.

    Option 8: On Instagram

In iPhone, it is only possible to use the italics option on texts on Instagram by means of third-party applications.

And as much as you attempt to select italic fonts from the Notes app and then paste the texts on the IG captions, the texts themselves begin to appear in their normal font.

    1. So, first, launch a text generator app. We have used Lingo Jam.
    2. Enter the text that you want to type, tap on the italic letters that appear and then tap on Copy.
    3. It is very simple, just go to Instagram, press and hold the text in the bio, or in any text while writing a caption, and choose Paste.

Follow the steps we showed above about how to use a text generator to italicize texts on iPhone:
