It is rather easy to download applications from the google play store. Although, at times users may have a situation whereby the note on the screen reads that the download is pending and it remains stuck in this status.
In the case of ‘pending download’ on your Android device, then you have to manually intervene. Depending upon which process is at fault for this glitch, you may have to try different solutions to get the right one. In this article, I’ll explain how to solve the pending updates problem for the Google Play Store.
1. It is advisable to Clear Google Play Cache
If the cache becomes a burden and is too much in a certain application, the app in most cases can start malfunctioning which is sometimes observed in the case of the Play Store.
This is an issue especially when there are several apps that the Play Store has to verify for update or other related action.
To clear the Play Store’s cache, do the following:
- Started at the top of the page and then slowly move downward. It could take one round of viewing; it could take two If you have to, or more.
- Immediately, take a tap on the “Apps & notifications.” For the Android OS version 7.0 and previous ones, your option is going to be, “App management.”
- Search for ‘Google Play Store’ in the result and click on it. You may need to tap on “See all ### apps” first for newer Android versions.
- If you have Android 6. 0 Marshmallow, click on “Storage & cache. ” On all other versions, choose “Storage usage” in the options list.
- Select “Clear cache. ”
That is it; your Google Play cache is cleared. This action often resolves general problems, such as the ‘download pending’ message. If it doesn’t, you can opt to use some of the following methods below.
2. Modify the queue
Google Play Store also pulls down all the latest version of all the apps on your device by default at some point or the other.
In any case, if you end up updating apps, your app may be at the tail end of the app update queue. Thus, you are able to get it to the first of the update/download list. Here is how to do it:
- Go to ‘Play Store’ right from the device you are using in Android format.
- Go to your “Profile” button on the upper right side of the app.
- Select “Manage apps & device. ”
- You must locate the “Updating apps” string and press “See details.”
- To exit the apps, press at the “X” button available next to the particular apps you do not want to use anymore. Instead, you can click on the Cancel all button and it cancels all of them at one go.
Currently, you can download the specific app you want before proceeding to navigate the Web to update all the other apps.
3. Log Out from the Account and Log in the Account Again
It helpful for some others to unfreeze Google Play getting stuck on downloads by simply removing their Google account from the device and then adding it back.
This action is NOT the same as deleting an account which removes the account from Google completely. As a result, your Android device will only have the option called “Remove”.
Note: That’s because when you delete your first Google account, the second one, or the “next-in-line,” becomes your first.
Hence, it possibly makes sense to log out temporarily, remove Google account sync, and re-login using the primary Google account.
To do this, you need to:
- Go to “Settings. ”
- Go down and click on “Accounts. ” For Android devices with higher versions, click on “Users & Accounts,” or for lower versions, click on “Accounts & Backup -> Accounts. ”
- In the list of distinct types of accounts, you are going to get your Google entries identified by the Gmail addresses. For older Android versions, you will first open the “Google” To “Settings” you will find and select your “primary Google account”.
- Press on “Remove account.” In case you are using older versions of Android, you should find the “More” icon which is presented as 2 vertical dots at the top right corner and select “Remove account.”
If you wish to use the same Google account primary on this device, then go to settings, erase all the Google accounts.
After that, you can proceed to open the Play Store, input your account details and attempt to download the application anew.
4. Check Storage Capacity
It deprives your device of built-in storage space that does not allow the downloading or updating of applications.
In this case, it gives an error with ‘insufficient space’ notifications rather than hanging as a download with an option to resume later.
But as far as purely legal perspective is concerned, it has not been completed even today. Thus, it becomes necessary for the topic to be covered under this article.
Their apps are downloaded on waiting lists as they wait for available space to be created for them. To check how much space you have left, do the following:
- Go to “Settings. ”
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and then click the “Storage” button.
- Check existing storage space. Bear in mind that some of the apps- particularly games will install additional content on your phone once you open them. Third, you should support extra space because the cache may use this space, and not all deleted data are removed.
The ‘bloatwares’ installed in your phone can also be a threat to your storage space. Most of these apps are bundled with the manufacturer add-ons to the Android phone and many of them are not useful.
Make sure that you clear all of them as often as possible to pave the way for other good ones. Look through the way on how to uninstall
Furthermore, a problem with the SD card can at times lead to complications with the application downloads.
To ensure that is not the case then you may need to remove the card and attempt to download the app. If it downloads to your internal storage, then please contact us so we can tell you on how you are to change the card or reform it.
5. Disable Your Device’s VPN
A user may set up a VPN to protect his/her privacy online; he or she does not realize that it will slow down downloads as well. Again, if you are connected to VPN, avoid being connected to it as you download the application again.
In most cases, a VPN should not hinder an application from downloading, but there are times when this may happen.
For instance, this may happen when a new VPN update has a problem, or an issue encountered your VPN is another region aside from your country.
Note: It was also revealed that some VPNs contain an ad/script blocking function, which can result in the pending download question.
If you have confidence in the site or app, the turn off your VPN if you have it on, and try again. Your VPN app may also give opportunity for URL exception.
