Sometimes people may need to boast to their friends about how much they care about a specific game or they may need to sum all the time spent on the games and therefore they may ask themselves a question.
Is there a chance to know how many PS4 hours were spent? I am giving you this information but you are not likely to find it on your console; there is however how you can access it.
And, regardless of why you could need that, let’s now see how you can check the time played on PS4.
Is it Possible to Determine How Long a User Has Played PS4?
Of course, Sony keeps it rather complicated in terms of time tracking. That there is no way within the system to get hours played report or timestamps for log-in.
While you can look up your public PlayStation profile through their My PlayStation website, all this service tells you is what trophies you have gained, how many friends you have, etc.
If you’re curious about those hours played on the PS4
You could also check out the PS4 time online, which means it is possible to view the amount of time spent on the device from the browser but not through the console.
This can be done using the parental controls feature; we discuss below So while using the Smart TV one has to be keen to perform this.
Basically, for this ‘hack’ to work, you need to sign up for a PlayStation account, even if you do not own the gaming console, and then click ‘Add Family Member’ to add a child account. Click the ‘Setup’ link to accidentally link the accounts together.
Unfortunately, to check how many hours someone has played, one has to go to the Family Management settings on Sony’s website.
- Head to Sony’s website.
- After that, go to the side menu and tap Family Management.
- Secondly, there is the account name where you can check on the time played.
This won’t tell you precisely what the individual was doing on his/ her PlayStation, and it can only show, what has been done to date today, together with time played.
How to Change Who Can Post on Your Wall and Manage Your Activity Feed
You can manage what is shared in your activity feed by using the following steps:
- Here, you need to click Sony Account and log in.
- To do this, go to the Playstation Network on the xmb and click on Privacy Settings.
- Press on Gaming | Media.
- To alter who can view your activities, trophies, friends list, what games you own, and more, click the Edit button next to the one that you want to alter.
If you have any activity you don’t want anyone to see, you can remove it by following these steps:
- Turn on your PS4 and navigate to the Profile settings.
- Select Change Privacy Settings.
- Select Gaming | Media.
- Then, select Activity.
- Click next to the activity that you want to delete.
- Select Options.
- On the same Options menu, there is an option that can be clicked to delete the activity so that it won’t appear again in the list of activity to be shared with friends.
Subscribe to the PSN Newsletter
Of course, one of the ways is to sometimes get the info on hours that have been played in total by subscribing to the monthly PlayStation Network newsletter, in which you will receive frequent mailings with individual tips and special offers on the PlayStation®Network. This information, which may or may not incorporate your gaming hours, is sometimes called gaming time information.
To sign up for the newsletter, you’ll need to do the following:
- Open a Sony account and get signed in.
- Next is Notification Setting; tick the box and then save the changes.
How do You Check Your PS4 Game History?
Here are some of the procedures you can use to check the game history on PS4. You may want to view your game history to find out the total time logged in gaming, to see what games you have, or bid to download another game to be displayed on your dashboard.
This can be done either through the PlayStation that comes with the app or the PS App.
Library Tab
- To get straight to any game that you have played, go up to the Library tab.
- Find the app on the far right of the system beyond the letter P, your games, Netflix, and the PS Store.
- Once inside the app it is possible to tap the Games segment or the Purchased segment. Alternatively, you can see when you purchased the games by just clicking on them.
As for the apps on this tab, you can always go back and add more to it by selecting the PlayStation Store app. Be sure to read our other article about the best PlayStation Apps.
Trophy List
Trophy list can be found on the top bar. When they are clicked, it becomes possible to find information on the games played as well as their trophies. As you know timestamps can be viewed by clicking them and that applies to the trophies as well.
Game Files
- To view save data on your PS4 navigate to Settings > Application Saved Data Management > Saved Data in System Storage > upload to online storage.
- From here choose any game and go to the Options button and then information. This will take you to your detailed time spend, and your game record.
Although you can ‘t view all saved data for all games, at least you will be able to know the time and date when you installed the game on your system. You will also be able to see the time stamp for the last time you saved your file or auto saved it.
Time Played on PS5
With the newest console officially out now, we would be remiss if we didn’t point out that the PS5 makes it much easier to notice the hours played.
If you want to spend minutes and hours behind your new console showing how great it is.
- This can be done by going to the profile page, selecting Games, and then simply clicking it.
- Below each game, you will get to know how many hours you have devoted to each of the games!
It is a feature that is almost sufficient to make us all get new consoles as this is something that we have all been waiting for a long time.
