While Sims 4 boasts a bevy of well-developed new features, work wear is not one of those. Quite many of the users reported not liking the look of their Sims.
They rarely present the character’s occupation in a positive manner and even when a character’s work is promoted, clothes may go back to previous level.
You want to get them out of their current clothes to correct this, but how?
Well, to helpimize your change of work outfits in Sims 4, in this article, now will discuss the detail instruction for it.
You’ll also learn how to convert NPC Work clothes for Consistency if you want the NPCs to wear the same outfit.
How to Change Work Clothes in Sims 4
Changing work clothes in Sims 4 can be a bit complicated because the game itself does not have this functionality.
Fortunately, there is a cheat which helps the player defeat this very obstacle used in the game under the title of “Change Career Outfit.” It allows you to apply all your outfits in order to make the Sims’ career more impressive.
Before you can use this code, you will have to switch on cheats for your game. A step-by-step guide is as follows. If you haven’t already enabled cheats, here’s how to do it:
- Press the shortcut keys, Ctrl + Shift + C.
- Now, you will see a window in the upper left corner of your screen. Navigate to your search bar.
- Type in the following line:
testingCheats true or testing cheats on
- Press the Prop Enter button, and the cheat codes are set in. If that does not solve the problem, then type testing cheats [true] outside the brackets in the console.
First, what you need to do is make sure you have the cheat console on and then enable the “Change Career Outfit”. Take the following steps:
- Go to cheat mode for your game.
- Type in the following line:
sims.change_career_attire_in_cas
3. Press Enter, and you should enter into the CAS (Create a Sim) mode.
4. Come up with the desirable outfit out of the clothes you own.
Every time you dress your Sims in a new-to-work look, your character’s career shall be unable to intrude on your creations.
They will work in the same functions as earlier, but given that they’re changing clothes, they will definitely look different.
All other aspects, including even the social interactions will remain the same. That’s why the cheat code is very convenient.
However, you need to agree that some of the work uniforms are not supposed to be worn in other places other than specific structures or places of work.
You can’t even find them through CAS mode basic searching, known as keyword searching or current contents.
As such, while swapping those uniforms with one of your own, this transformation may not be turned around upside down.
To prevent this situation, it is advisable to make sure that the current working attire can be worn openly.
The other way is to use another mod known as “Plan Career Outfit.” The mod adds interactions to all dressers, Get Together closets and mirrors.
It can be added to any object that also contains the Change Sim interactions, so it will naturally support Custom Content creations.
The only drawback is that the mod instead of being genral can only be used on Sims with a job that requires them to wear uniforms. They must also be at least in their teens.
Here’s what you need to do to use the mod:
- Using your browser, go to this website and download the mod.
- Extract the downloaded files, and the mod is installed.
- Firstly, launch the Sims 4 and navigate to the Dresser.
- You should be put on CAS mode where you can plan the outfit for the career. In fact, do not even try to change the clothes category in order to do not apply the changes to your Everyday clothing.
- Create your uniform, and if you are done with this mode, press the tick symbol.
The next time you evict your Sims to work they are going to put on that new set of clothes.
When applied to Sims with several jobs, this interaction will merely allow you to alter only the clothing of the last job. Moreover, there is no support for Child Sims’ work outfits in the mod as well.
Remember that this mod will entail using the Scumbumbo XML Injector. This is a mod library that allows mods to implement simple changes using snippets instead of scrips.
It also serves to enable modders to release their mods without having to encode, compile or support the script as well.
Take the following steps to download and install the Injector if you haven’t already:
- Head over to Mod the Sims website then download the file.
- UnZIP them from the Sims 4 Mods folder, and place them in your folder. Ideally, you should then install it right into this folder, not into a subfolder. That way, if you need to update it to the newer versions of your script, you will be hard-pressed to know where to find it.
- Once you have installed files, turn your script mods on from the games’ settings for you to get the mods working.
- Use a test XML file and run the XML Injector to check the tool’s functionality. To do this, it is advisable to use the incorporated test package, which adds a number of test interactions to your game objects. You can use any of the following six locations in your Sims 4:
- Household mailbox
- Computer objects
- Clicking on your Sim
- To make a right-click on another Sim using the Friendly chat icon
- Household phone category
- About it through the relationship panel of your Sim
- Selecting these test interactions would make a notification to indicate that the Injector of your choice is running adequately. If you cannot actually observe the interactions, then most likely you have to re-install the Injector, or it will not work for your “Plan Career Outfit” mod.
- After verifying that your Injector is functioning correctly, you can remove the following file: XmlInjector_Test_v2.package
This way, the tests will no longer be exposed on the pie menus. Still, you should ensure that the script file is placed within the Mods folder only. If you remove it, then maybe other mods that depend on it aren’t going to be able to function properly.
When you have installed and tried the Injector you can to the most with your outfit mod. The Injector will guarantee you that it will not inter-operate with other mods and will not tamper with your game.
